PRAYING WITH – AND FOR – REFUGEES

A prayer idea from the charity ‘Embrace the Middle East’:

Draw a simple house shape and write REFUGE under it in big letters.

Think about where you live and jot down some words and phrases to express what makes it a refuge for you – physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally and/or spiritually – and how you feel when you are there.

Use these written prompts to thank God for the specific differences having a place of refuge make in your life.

Now add to the letter ‘E’ to the end of the word REFUGE so it becomes REFUGEE.

Look at what you wrote again and pray for refugees in the Middle East who are not experiencing these qualities and feelings at the moment.

Cross out the extra ‘E’ so the word becomes REFUGE again.

Pray for blessing, resourcing and strength for Embrace’s partners working to restore some sense of refuge to refugees in Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine.
